Styrene Monomer 125mls

Styrene Monomer is commonly used to thin polyester resin viscosity or used with Wax in Styrene to make a Gloss Coat. Thinning the resin viscosity is a technique used in cooler climates or for faster cloth saturation.

Styrene Monomer can also be used for dissolving Shapers Sunbake UV Catalyst powder, clearing out sand through/ decal laminates and removing blemishees. 

Gloss Resin Mix

Converting Laminating Resin into a Gloss Resin is a relatively simple process, achieved through adding Wax in Styrene and Styrene Monomer.
 
As a guide, a 3% ratio of Wax in Styrene and 3% ratio of Styrene Monomer, is mixed with Laminating Resin. For example, 30mls of Wax in Styrene and 30mls of Styrene Monomer would be used to convert 1 Litre of Laminating Resin to Filler Resin. Please refer to the chart below for quick reference.
 
Wax in Styrene should be mixed well into Laminating Resin prior to adding Catalyst (MEKP or Shapers Sunbake UV additive).

50mls Laminating Resin / Add 1.5mls Wax in Styrene and 1.5mls Styrene Monomer.
100mls Laminating Resin / Add 3mls Wax in Styrene and 3mls Styrene Monomer.
250mls Laminating Resin / Add 7.5mls Wax in Styrene and 7.5mls Styrene Monomer.
500mls Laminating Resin / Add 15mls Wax in Styrene and 15mls Styrene Monomer.
1,000mls / 1 Litre Laminating Resin / Add 30mls Wax in Styrene and 30mls Styrene Monomer.
2,000mls / 2 Litres of Laminating Resin / Add 60mls Wax in Styrene and 60mls Styrene Monomer.
4,000mls / 4 Litres of Laminating Resin / Add 120mls Wax in Styrene and 120mls Styrene Monomer.
